Days in April of 2018
It’s nearly nine years since I’ve been at CMC, in the atmosphere when the company is busy preparing for the 25th corporation foundation anniversary, I was asked to write for someone in the future – called are descendants after 25 years.
Surprise feeling quickly went away and curious feeling came over. Will anyone still care about these words 25 years later? Or a new way of communication will completely replace the way we are doing now? Oh well, maybe someone will read like the way I still read physical books every day, the method that started more than 4,000 years ago. Today I will write to my future friend, who naturally follows mathematics at the moment: 2018 + 25 = 2043. Hello Two Zero Four Three.
The story starts in the days of end of 2009, when I entered CMC at the age of 35 and had worked for more than 15 years, I was considered “a child in early life”. At that age I started a new role – called the “B” side [1].
“Almost everything is relative,” this statement can be right or wrong depending on your perspective. However it was right for me if compare to the position I started at CMC as well as the position that I had started nine years before at CMC – as a team leader.
7 years of working here with 7 times of changing positions, I had to make a completely different year plan from the previous year. The positive change is to help me always have something new to do, but it may leave us with less time to experiment with some of the things in a position.
It is now the 9th year, when I look back on the past, I am proud that I have excellent companions, people who can dare to say and dare to do and colleagues that I can see as friends. These things are very important, with a longer working time at the company than at home if without these people, who got your back? [2].
If I were to write about my friends here, it would be a very long letter … I will write about them but not today, not in this letter because my thanks in life are not save it until 25 later to speak.
With the message in this letter I would like to send to your future friend if someone is predestined to read and ponder. In our life we always have teachers, someone who gives us knowledge, someone who gives us advice and experience, someone who gives us opportunities and beliefs and someone who simply gives us sympathy for the failure in his life, … it is those who stick with us every day at work, not everyone else. Those are the people I found at this CMC.

Another experience is that in countless recruiting interviews during nearly 18 years, I always respect and select candidates you are aware of self-study and proactiveness. Whoever you are, no matter how good you study at school, if you don’t know who you are in your work environment, without giving yourself the chance to take on something new, you will be very difficult to develop.
Someone said “success = opportunity + willingness”, this sentence is very true to the working environment and at least to me throughout the years. I believe that in the next 25 years, no matter how much science and technology advance, how far people can go is basically this formula, so why aren’t we ready for the opportunity?
25 years, a long way for a lifetime and not short for a business. I have read through the statistics that the average life expectancy for the world’s top 500 companies by the beginning of the 20th century was 67 years, but by the beginning of the 21st century it has decreased to about 15 years. In Vietnam most companies formed and ended within 5 years, today I am sitting here writing this letter to you at the age of 25 of the company which has been a pride that I have 9 years in it. So how about you read this message when our company celebrated its 50th anniversary.
After all, it would be great if following after me, you wrote the story and your message for the next cycle in the next 50 years.
